Do you have dry bones in your life? What are the things you need to be speaking life and truth into? By the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ that lives within you, you have the power to speak life into any situation. Now kneel down and pray for life to enter into your dry bones!

More Excellent Way

In Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians he was having to explain that the various gifts they were receiving came from one Spirit – YVHV (chapter 12). Because they had previously worshiped many different gods – sun god, fertility god, and many more, they had started to believe that these different gifts were from different gods. Paul was explaining that although there were different gifts they came from the same God and that they all come together to complete and complement the whole body of Christ. That they should desire and ask for these gifts but not to covet another’s gift. But I like the way he leads into, for us, chapter 13 – “…And I will show you a more excellent way.”

Chapter 13 proceeds to tell us that we can do all things through Christ but that without love, it means nothing. Jesus told us, when answering the rich man’s question as to which ‘laws’ were the most important, that love was the key – “Jesus declared, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’…” Matthew 22:37-39.

Loving God is easy once you begin to understand who He is and what He’s done for you, BUT loving others is not always easy. I agree with what Joyce Meyer says I can be having a wonderful day worshipping God and walking in love until other people get involved. But that is the true test, and iron sharpening – how do we behave or what is our attitude when we get around other people? Being selfish and self-centered is easy after all we were born this way. Don’t believe me? Watch a baby especially when they’re around other babies. Everything becomes ‘MINE’!

But cheer up! I have good news! Although the cutting away of ‘self’ referred to as the heart circumcision may be painful and need repeating over and over again, with the help of the Holy Spirit it does get easier. When your will lines up with God’s will – What a joy it is! “…Weeping may spend the night, but there is joy in the morning.” Psalm 30:5

There is a woman that would otherwise be homeless had I not taken her in. She has no income and no means of taking care of herself while we wait on SSD. So, the responsibility falls on me. Now I live on a very limited income, but this is something God has told me to do. God has blessed me for doing this, but she is the knife God uses to cut away my selfishness, and self-centerness, and believe me there are days I just want to throw up my hands and kick her out. That would be the easy thing to do and certainly what other people have advised me to do, but it’s not what God wants me to do. God’s not done with me, and this situation has brought me closer to Him. But not once has He left me or forsook me! He’s always there lifting me up and asking me to go a little bit higher. I know when the time comes I will receive my reward! So, as Paul instructs – keep fighting the good fight of faith and hold on to His promises!
